**Chris Nickas - State Farm | A masterclass in how to lose a loyal customer.**
Like everyone else right now, I'm already feeling the pressure of rising costs on everything from groceries to gas. The last thing I needed was my insurance agent making it worse — but here we are.
State Farm migrated to a new servicing platform and changed my policy number, which required me to sign a new Uninsured Motorist form. That form was sent once in June — straight to my spam folder. No phone call to confirm I received it, no follow-up that actually got my attention, nothing. Just a form sitting in spam with a ticking clock on it.
Fast forward to today when I noticed my premium had jumped from **$183/month to $319/month** — a **73% increase** — on three vehicles including a golf cart. I called, asked them to resend the link so I could review and address it. They did. It expired at **4:21 PM the same day.** Their response? "We cannot backdate the coverage. Nothing we can do."
So I canceled and moved to Progressive.
The kicker? The same email from rep **Marissa telling me nothing could be done ended with a **PS asking me to leave a Google review for their office competition.**
Well Marissa, here you go.
Chris — when people are already stretched thin, your office's answer to a form that landed in a customer's spam folder shouldn't be a $135/month permanent penalty with zero recourse. I'll be filing a formal complaint with the **Florida Department of Financial Services** for the record.
To anyone reading this — ask your agent to confirm receipt of any document that affects your premium before the clock runs out. Don't assume it made it to you."

Our office went beyond what was required and what we always do as a locally run State Farm agency serving our community. We communicated the Uninsured Motorist requirement and followed up to ensure you had the opportunity to complete the update before it impacted renewal. Based on our records, State Farm mailed the Uninsured Motorist information/forms to your address on file prior to the renewal process. When we did not receive a response, our team began contacting you starting 5/1 and continued outreach so it could still be handled before renewal
Contacts attempted by our office:
• 5/1 – Selection/Rejection email and text sent
• 5/6 – Voicemail left
• 5/18 – Second voicemail left
• 6/1 – Third voicemail left so it could still be addressed before renewal
The premium increase occurred because your Uninsured Motorist status was not updated/confirmed in time. If you had any questions, you were always welcome to call our office so we could help you immediately. We cannot control whether or when documents are received or whether voice messages are returned. The lack of action on the required update until the increase was noticed is what led to the renewal outcome
While we regret the increase took place, I have to stand up for the great team of agents I work with every day. They do their best to assist and support our clients and while your Google review is obviously intended to indicate other wise I would refer you to the hundreds of positive reviews my team has received.
